Contribute to News Grift

The News Grift team is always open to publishing outside content on our site, so if you think you have a fake news story idea that would work well in the framework of the site, please send it to us.
Some notes to read before submitting your text:
01 – If we print your fake story, we’ll give you a byline and link to a “safe-for-work, non-offensive” website of your choice. We’re even open to keyword/keyphrase linking text, as long as it isn’t offensive or over the top.
02 – Please be aware that any story submitted will become our property for editing purposes and future reprinting or retelling in any medium. In a nutshell, you lose all rights to the content when you submit it to us.
03 – Just to be clear: You lose all rights to the text and story when you submit it to us.
04 – We usually post one fake story a day, which usually means that we’ve got ~100 stories backlogged and that we may have something similar to your submitted story already waiting in the wings. If that’s the case, you probably won’t receive credit for the story, unless your idea would add something substantially unique and then we’ll give you contributer’s credit.
This might sound shady, but you’ll just have to trust that we aren’t going to rip off your unique submissions.
05 – Submission doesn’t guarantee that we’ll use your story.
06 – We will edit your story at our discretion. This includes cropping and rewording aspects of it as we see fit. If this happens we’ll make a note that the story was edited.
07 – We’ll find a suitable photo to accompany the story.
08 – We’ll only contact you if we’re going to use your story. And this will be a courtesy heads up as to when it might show up on the site. If you don’t hear back from us, that means we’ve decided not to run the story.
Remember, by submitting your story you’re giving up all rights to the content.
